A
Message from NYS Senator Mary Lou Rath
Thank
you for your interest in “Walk
the Villages.” This program is
a great way to get people
exercising and moving to promote
a healthy lifestyle. As obesity
rates and health care costs
continue to soar, it’s so
important that we each take
responsibility for our health
and wellness. Walking
is one of the most effective and
easiest ways Walking is one of
the most effective and easiest
ways to get or stay in shape.
“Walk
the Villages” is in its third
year now. The program continues
to grow and I have people from
all over the state asking me how
they can start a similar
initiative. I am pleased to
announce that five additional
villages will be participating
this year: East Aurora,
Ellicottville, Alden, Lancaster
and Orchard Park.
In addition to strolling through
your hometown “village,” I
hope you
take this opportunity to walk
through neighboring villages to
see all they have to offer.
Thank you to the sponsors and
many of our community businesses
for coordinators and volunteers
who have worked countless hours
to ensure the success of this
program. Good luck and happy
walking.
Very
truly yours,
Mary
Lou Rath
New York State Senator

Better
Health
What if
there was a magic pill that, if you took it each
day,
would lower your risk of developing heart disease,
cancer and diabetes?
What if this pill also gave you more energy and
helped you live a longer,
healthier life? There is such a pill! It is called
exercise.
